The Green Oak pottery
|
| |
The Green Oak pottery perpetuates the
tradition of horticultural Anduze pots and dits hancrapted production
adorns the famous gardens of the Castle Versailles. The architect
in charge of recent restoring work in the gardens originally designed
by Le Nôtre, incidentally found a fragment of an Anduze vase
dated 1804 and signed Gautier.
This discovery contributed to put these world famous pots forward
on the scene once again and Green Oak pottery was given the delicate
responsability of handcraffing them. |

The "Versailles" model is a re-edition of
an 18th. Century vase, handcrafted by Gautier. Its decorative attributes
composing the garland, maily, an angel, a flower-de-luce and horns
of plenty linked by a thin thread taking the shape of a "chapeau
de gendarme", were designed from the original model. Today each
pot harbors a distinctive badge, set in between each garland, it represents
a 12th century currency called "Trébuchet", the escutcheon
displays the sun which is topped by the royal crown.
In addition, a manufacturing stamp showing an Anduze cross authenticates
each piece.
